Our story
Dba: Gretas of Leland
Established: 2008
Welcome to Greta’s of Leland, where we celebrate our love for Leelanau County and the people who have summered, toured, and lived for generations. Greta’s roots date back to the 1870’s whose ancestor’s established a Homestead at Gill’s Pier. Her idea to live, work and play while raising a family is what Land of Delight’s was founded upon. The Leelanau Theme song by Ruth Obershulte was the inspiration for her store and included handmade music boxes around the script. After all, it described the true feeling of the place that gave us the memories we cherish most. Strangely enough, you cannot fill a store wih one hand made product, so the inventory grew to other locally based artwork and unique gifts that would inspire customers to come back year after year.
In 2009 she outgrew the original space and moved to 110 North Lake Street overlooking Leland Harbor. After major renovations and a successful new beginning, the store became Greta’s of Leland and remains to this day.

The Leelanau Theme Song by Art and Hazel Oberhelman
Remember the Picnics we had at the springs, The sails in the moonlight, the Sunday night sings, The calm of the lake in the dawn's early light, Leelanau, Leelanau, Land of Delight.
The blue of the water, the blue of the sky, The cry of the gulls as they circle on high, The whitecaps that sparkle, the white clouds above, Leelanau, Leelanau, land that I love.
Carefree days, starlit nights,
Cherry blossoms, northern lights, The afterglow when the sun has set, These are things I'll never forget.
Remember the first early flowers in May, The scarlet and gold of an October day, The path of the moon on a still summer night, Leelanau, Leelanau, Land of Delight.
